Armourguard delighted to provide support for Te Whangai Trust and Orange Sky Aotearoa

Armourguard is delighted to be supporting two very worthy community-based causes – Te Whangai Trust and Orange Sky Aotearoa.

Te Whangai Trust
We are donating security services to this community-led charitable trust, which supports, trains and advocates for people who find it challenging to enter the labour market. Te Whangai Trust uses business principles to achieve social, environmental, economic and cultural aspirations – for example, generating income through a native plant nursery that is staffed by people it is supporting.
Adrienne Dalton from the Te Whangai Trust says that – as is the case for many charities – money is tight and the Trust can’t afford to engage a security company. It therefore has been hugely helpful to have Armourguard providing a free security service at its Panmure, Auckland depot.
Over time the intention is to develop the site into the Trust’s fourth native plant nursery. But for now it is a depot for machinery stock and tools. The site was badly vandalised several years ago and there was a fear it would happen again.
“It’s a huge relieve that Armourguard will be on hand to rapidly respond should an alarm go off and we’re very grateful for that assistance. It means we can stop worrying about security there and focus on what we are there for – supporting the environment and empowering people to make positive changes to create a better life for themselves and future generations.
Orange Sky Aotearoa
Armourguard has made a substantial donation to Orange Sky Aotearoa, which supports individuals and whānau experiencing homelessness and hardship through access to free laundry, warm showers and genuine kōrero and connection.
For many who feel unseen, these moments of connection help restore dignity and enhance mana. Orange Sky works alongside trusted community partners across the motu, including city missions, soup kitchens, community centres, and churches.
These organisations have built deep relationships with friends and whānau doing it tough over many years. Providing free laundry and shower services helps remove barriers for those facing hardship and creates opportunities for connection, care, and community.
The demand for Orange Sky’s services is higher than ever, with a 106% increase last year alone. Since launching in 2018, they have provided 28,000 loads of laundry, 14,000 hot showers, and 42,000 hours of meaningful connection.
Louise Phillips, Orange Sky’s Fundraising and Development Manager, said: “We are hugely grateful for Armourguard’s commitment to their community. At Orange Sky, we provide a very practical service, but the real magic happens on our orange chairs — where connection and conversation can make a world of difference for people doing it tough. Armourguard’s generous donation helps us continue creating these moments of connection.”
